Choosing the optimal shaft in cyber-space is a complex task. Please use this flex guide to be pointed in the proper direction.

Despite the overwhelming use of swing speed as a determinant for flex by many web-sites, brochures, flex guides, etc., there are many other factors to consider first.

Step 1) Hitting is always the best method - if you can see the ball flight, and the distance, feel the responsiveness, and your swing, you will be doing what the Tour Players do in finding their optimum flex.

Step 2) Determine the flex in your current set. Connect with a competent club maker who can give you an idea or measurement of your current flex to use as a point of reference.

Step 3) Test your current clubs. If with your current shaft, the shaft feels dead and unresponsive at impact, has a lower ball flight, feels like the ball doesn't jump off the face, and feels like you have to swing harder than your natural swing, your SHAFT NEEDS MORE FLEX. If your shaft feels like it's hard to control the club, and your shot pattern is erratic, your SHAFT NEEDS LESS FLEX. If your swing tempo is natural, and have reasonable trajectory, and things feel solid at impact, and you don't feel the need to speed up or slow down - your SHAFT HAS THE PROPER FLEX.
